be-aware cautions

Every seat in the corpus carries a position-based rating. The worst tier is avoid: a seat where several documented drawbacks stack up at once — a seat that will not recline pressed against a galley wall, an aisle seat wedged beside the lavatory queue, a bulkhead with no floor storage. These ratings are derived from the seat’s recorded attributes and the airline’s own published seat materials, not from passenger surveys. Full method on the methodology page.

The 10 worst seats flying today

Every seat here shares the same “avoid” rating, so the ranking is by number of documented drawbacks (adverse seat flags plus distinct written reasons), tie-broken by airline then seat. The reason text is quoted verbatim from the corpus.

What the ratings mean

SeatRecon’s ratings are position-based and editorial, derived from documented seat attributes (recline, proximity to lavatories and galleys, window alignment, storage, traffic) — not from passenger surveys or reviews.

  • Avoid — multiple drawbacks stack up; choose another seat if you can. These 225 seats are the subject of this index.
  • Be aware — bookable, but with a trade-off worth knowing. 7,362 seats in the corpus carry this softer caution (counted per airline below, not listed seat-by-seat).

Full rating rubric on the methodology page.

Avoid & be-aware seats by airline

Every airline in the corpus with at least one avoid-rated seat, with its avoid and be-aware counts. Jump to any airline for the seat-by-seat detail.

The avoid column sums to 225. The be-aware total (7,362) spans more airlines than are listed here; the rows above show only the be-aware counts for airlines that also have an avoid seat.
