Latest revision Lufthansa publishes for the 787-9 legacy config is dated 2022-05 (this airframe subfleet was not re-issued in the 2026-03 fleet refresh); the PDF header states the layout is "representative" and "deviations are possible".

Lufthansa operates the Boeing 787-9 in two cabin configurations — the Allegris 28/28/231 (287) on newer deliveries and the legacy 26/21/247 (294) on ex-Hainan Airlines airframes; the legacy airframes retain their original interior.

Neutral fleet reference used only to confirm the two coexisting 787-9 configs and that the 26/21/247 airframes retain the legacy interior; not used for any layout or dimension.

How this map was built

Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 in its legacy (pre-Allegris) long-haul cabin: 26 Business / 21 Premium Economy / 247 Economy = 294. This is the interim configuration of the ex-Hainan Airlines 787-9 airframes; newer Lufthansa 787-9 deliveries carry the Allegris cabin (see lh-789-allegris), which is progressively replacing this layout, so this config is marked status:active with supersededBy. Transcribed ROW-BY-ROW from the Lufthansa fleet seat-map PDF 202205_B789_26-21-247B.pdf (the only/latest official 787-9 legacy map Lufthansa publishes; header title 26 Business/21 Premium Economy/247 Economy; the PDF states the layout is "representative" and "deviations are possible"). BUSINESS is a staggered 1-2-1 lie-flat (columns A | D,G | K): row 1 has only the two window seats (1A,1K, bulkhead + bassinet, behind the forward galley); rows 2-7 have all four seats (A,D,G,K) = 26. PREMIUM ECONOMY 2-3-2 rows 8-10 (A,C | D,E,G | H,K) = 21; row 8 is the bulkhead behind Door 2 with a centre bassinet. ECONOMY 3-3-3 rows 11-42 = 247: Preferred Zone (location surcharge, still Economy Y) = rows 11-16 (row 11 is the bulkhead behind Door 2 with a centre bassinet); the Door 3 mid-cabin complex removes the right window/aisle seats (H/J/K) at rows 25-26 (row 25 = A,B,C,D,E,G; row 26 = A,B,C only); row 27 is the exit row aft of Door 3 whose window/aisle seats (A/B/C and H/J/K, 6 seats total) are the only extra-legroom "Sitze mit mehr Beinfreiheit" (N tier), while the row-27 centre triple (D/E/G) is a bulkhead behind the mid-cabin lavatories; rows 28-39 are full 3-3-3; the tail tapers (row 40 drops the window seats A/K = B,C,D,E,G,H,J; rows 41-42 are the centre triple D/E/G only). COUNT: enumerated seats total exactly 294 (26+21+247) reconciling to the PDF title, so layoutProvenance = published_map. DERIVATIONS/UNPUBLISHED: the PDF publishes row/seat identifiers, cabin classes and counts, extra-legroom and Preferred-Zone markers, bassinet/family positions, exits, galleys and lavatories, but NO numeric pitch/width/recline and no screen sizes — all seat-type dimensions are unsourced estimates and screen sizes are omitted. windowAlignment is left "unknown" for window seats (a top-down schematic does not prove window-to-seat alignment). Amenities (Wi-Fi/IFE/power) are the Lufthansa long-haul product, not read from this PDF. Engines 2x GE GEnx-1B74/75 per the PDF.
